Hello Everyone!
My name is James Patterson and I am an English teacher candidate at CSUSM (California State University San Marcos).
I am also a private tutor, and a graduate from CSUSM with a B.A. in Communication.
I am currently co-teaching ninth grade college prep English at El Camino High School in Oceanside, CA.
Teaching Philosophy
I do not like to be relegated to only one teaching philosophy, but the one that I closely identify with is essentialism.
Essentialists believe that teachers should try to embed traditional moral values and virtues such as respect for authority, perseverance, fidelity to duty, consideration for others, and practicality and intellectual knowledge that students need to become model citizens.

I encourage students to have their creativity shine through, anytime they possibly can. I also believe there is not a "one size fits all" approach to learning, and that teachers should figure out with the student the best approach to ensure success in the classroom.
